I went on strike over the weekend.  I was only going to do my canning.  This is what happens if you refuse to do any housework besides dishes.  Be forewarned!

This summer has been a long stressful summer.  We are still unsure of where we will be living by the new year but I have decided to stop letting it get to me.  Until I get the notice to start packing, I will be living as usual.  I have spent this past year in a cloud of uncertainty and am over it!  I have allowed it to consume me and add unnecessary stress.

Today is my fresh start!  (Love Mondays for that reason, and that reason only!)  I am rewashing the load of towels that have been sitting in my washer all weekend.  I am going to drink my tea and then clean up this pig sty and then we are going OUTSIDE!  I have spent a lot of time watching a pressure canner the last few days and need some fresh air.

So what have I been up to?  Trying to enjoy the summer!  My daughter turned 5 a few weeks ago and is starting school in the fall.  My oldest son is preparing for Junior High and my baby boy is looking forward to having me all to himself for a while.

We’ve done the NSPE, Shubenacadie Wild Life Park, went to the beach a few times, went to the camp to play in the lake and this weekend we are finally camping!

I’m still on my weight loss path.  With the stress though, the weight is sticking around a bit more then I’d like, but I’m down about 10 pounds.  I’m averaging about a pound a week, which while frustrating because I just want it all off, I know that that is the best move for me.  Inches are going so I’m focusing on that.

The garden started out rough, but has really started to flourish.  Our peas were a bust with only 2 bags being put away and only 1 meal eaten with a  very small side of peas, but the beans have made up for that.  Our hot peppers are doing extremely well and the tomatoes who had a small case of early blight are hanging heavily with tomatoes.  Carrots are starting to come in for storage and kale, spinach and chard have been planted for a fall picking.

That’s it!  Focusing on loving the family and enjoying our last summer before I have 2 kids in school.

Hope your summer has been fantastic and fulfilling!

BEANS

We have been drowning in beans! This is the 18 pints I canned yesterday. I also have 7 pints of pickled beans, 15 quarts of full length beans canned and 7 freezer bags stuffed with beans frozen in the freezer.

Update!

Haven’t been here lately.  So busy!  We’re almost to the end of the school year and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for all the activities.  So excited to not be living in my van anymore!

We decided to do a garden plot at our local community garden again so I’ll be posting about that soon enough.  Also going to clean out our freezer so I can do some once a month cooking and I’ll post about that later.  My goal is to get back to more homesteading posts.

But for now, I thought I’d do a little weight loss update.  I actually haven’t lost any weight.  I bought a new scale so that I would have one here at home and it weighs heavier then the one at the gym so the couple pounds I did manage to get off had to be marked back on.  But now I will have a steady way to track my weight.

But the inches!!!  Oh the inches have been disappearing.  I just measured today and was shocked.  Here’s hoping for the smaller shorts I bought fitting by the end of June!

Bust: 3″

Waist: 4.75″

Hips:  2″

Fat Roll:  3.5″  (This is that spare tire around my belly button.  I measure the smallest part of my waist for my waist measurement.)

That is a total of 13.25″ since January!  And no weight lost!  Deciding if I should go to the doctor for some advice but I think I will wait another month.

I’ve been still running and doing bodyrock once or twice a week.  I’m also following My Fitness Pal and tracking my calories.  No wonder I got fat!  Anyone on My Fitness Pal can feel free to add me!  jessicarthibodeau

Enjoy the rainy day and have a great Mother’s Day weekend!

Running

Did another run workout.  I started fresh with the running program I’m following after I got the knee brace and today I’m so happy to write that it was a bit easier!  I was surprised when the running time was over and kept looking to see when the walking would end.  Sunday will be the start of week 2, so we’ll see how I do!  No pain (besides the aches I have everyday) and I’ve been keeping up with the icing.  Now I just need to wear this knee brace all day and I’ll be set.  I hate it so much though!

Have a great weekend!

I did the full plank/pushup combo and 75 of the rest.  Then I headed to the gym for day 1 of C25K again.  Felt good!  Cooled down for 15 min. on the bike.

Today is a walk outside because it is BEAUTIFUL!  Spring has sprung!

I’ll be making the Amish Friendship Bread today if I get a chance (or tomorrow)!  Sounds yummy!  I will be making the middle recipe right away because we’re out of bread!
